Mignolo, el orientalista

That was a title of an old student paper, the first page of one copy of which I came across while cleaning the office files. It’s intriguing. They said that Mignolo was ultimately reinscribing a Western view of things, although he intends otherwise. I forget which Mignolo text I had assigned, but the title is tantalizing so I am putting it here.

I was in a symposium where someone was discussing Joanna Russ and I was realizing how important she was for Ferreira da Silva and Emmelhainz, really. Someone else was talking about how conspiracy theories work and if I understood right, they work by alleging patterns, but not offering a narrative.

I’m making a lot of progress but wish I did not have to rush as much. How to have time to breathe and go at my own walking pace. What is the key to this? I think it’s taking more authority in life, still. What was it Ish said that time, that my refusal to believe in self was the most frustrating thing about me?

Axé.
