I recently saw The Harder they Come for the first time since it came out. I did not turn on the subtitles, and I could barely understand the actors’ accents in English – except for those of the oppressor class, of course. Now I want to study the novel upon which this film is based, and the historical character whose tale it recounts. Can one get a recording of the Rhygin song that topped the charts while the outlaw singer evaded capture?

Thanks for reminding me of that blog, though … I don’t go to it enough and I don’t know the person (and don’t know why not, really, one would assume such a person would be on the radio at least … ?).
I tried to find the author on the Internet. If he is who I think he is, he doesn’t actually live in LA – is working elsewhere, anyway – but my bet is he is from Laf. / has family and roots there. I will keep my eyes and ears peeled.

O good! I am sedentary, trying to read for work but distracted by genealogy research on myself which is inspired by what I am reading for work. The results of it are quite shocking – everyone in the line I am looking at is a nefarious member of the oppressive classes, and they are very well documented. The amusing part is cousins constantly intermarrying from the 17th century to the late 19th (I think most of that ended in the 20th, but who knows).
