Let’s count

So: Emil is my great-grandfather, and Alexander is his first cousin.

Alexander’s daughter Lydia is my second cousin once removed.

Her great-grandson is Kirill; that is Alexander’s great-great grandson is Kirill.

So Kirill is my third cousin twice removed.

AI is telling me these things, I don’t know how to figure it out.

But our common ancestor is my great-great grandfather Benjamin, who is Kirill’s great-great-great grandfather.

So why does Kirill look so much like my brother, since he is not a closer relative?

Axé.
