I see by some things people have said today that I still do not see what is blatant obstruction and abuse. That is why I have these reactions like Ernesto in Los ríos profundos, dejected at what he sees and elated when he looks at the mountains. A student at one of my former universities explained this character to me in terms that are not in any of the criticism, and she was right. It was one of the most important things I have learned from students.
